The Akron Regional Air Quality Management District (housed at Summit County Public Health) runs the MowGREENER exchange for residents of Summit, Portage and Medina counties — a Visa rebate card ($150 for a mower with gas-mower scrap, $50 without, $25 for accessories). 2026 registration closed May 29, 2026 due to a waitlist; expected to return in 2027.
The Mow Greener Exchange Program (Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency / Hamilton County, funded by the Volkswagen emissions settlement) gave residents of Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton and Warren counties a $100 Visa gift card for scrapping a gas mower and buying electric. It ran annually 2022-2024 (about 140 households/year, first-come); no 2025 cycle was offered and the program pages now return 404. Historical — no longer offered.
